Hello -
This month, the Marin County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution proclaiming July 2025 as Disability Pride Month. This month marks 35 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law. While this was a significant milestone in our nation’s history, individuals with disabilities still face discrimination and further efforts are needed for their full inclusion.

Disability Pride Month aims to redefine perceptions of disability as a natural part of human diversity, promoting pride and ending stigma.
As your Supervisor, I am committed to building a community that truly includes everyone. This proclamation is not just symbolic, it is a call to action for all of us to support equity, inclusion, and access for everyone.
In recognition of the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Civic Center Art Gallery is hosting an exhibit, ADA 35: Making Waves. This exhibit showcases works by artists from Cedars and Marin Ventures, two Marin County organizations that serve individuals with disabilities. Together, the exhibits honor the progress achieved since the passage of the ADA and create space to reflect, imagine, and push for full inclusion. It is a great exhibit. Come check it out at the Marin Civic Center 1st and 3rd Floor Galleries.

In response to rising safety concerns for young e-bike riders, new e-bike rules for riders under 16 years of age are starting this summer. Riders under 16 will no longer be allowed to use throttle-powered Class 2 e-bikes.
Here’s a quick refresher:
-
Class 1 e-bikes only assist when you pedal and stop helping at 20 mph. Legal for all ages.
-
Class 2 e-bikes assist with a throttle up to 20mph, and pedaling isn't required. You must be 16+ to ride in Marin.
-
Class 3 e-bikes only assist when you pedal, and stop helping at 28 mph. You must be 16+ to ride anywhere.
-
Electric motorcycles are not e-bikes. If the bike does not have pedals, it is not an e-bike.
To help families and youth adjust and stay in the know about e-bike safety, E-Bikers Club is here! Find safety tips, law updates, and resources for students, parents, and schools on the E-Bikers Club website. Let’s keep Marin rolling safely!

The Transportation Authority of Marin (of which I am currently Board Chair) is working on a study aimed at reducing car trips while boosting alternative travel options throughout Marin County. The goal is to improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, enhance street safety, and cut down on greenhouse gas emissions. Ultimately, fewer car trips mean a cleaner, quieter, and safer environment for everyone.
You are invited to share your experiences and challenges related to travel throughout the region. By participating in our Public Survey - How Do You Travel?, you will help us identify key areas for improvement and contribute to the development of strategies to reduce car trips and enhance travel options. The survey closes August 15.
Thank you in advance for your participation. I look forward to seeing your feedback!

The second round of the Food, Agriculture, and Resilient Ecosystems (FARE) grant program has launched. The 2025 grants aim to support projects and programs that strengthen local food systems, promote climate-beneficial management, and increase natural resource values on Marin's working lands. Projects that benefit populations experiencing inequity related to food security, ecological health, or other FARE focus areas will be prioritized. Award amounts range from $5,000-$200,000.
The application window is open, and applications are due by September 12, 2025. You can find a link to the application on the Fare Grants webpage.
Have questions about the application process, want to discuss project ideas, or have other questions? Please book a meeting with our Parks Team using this FARE Office Hours link or visit the FARE Grants webpage for more information.
