Lower Utility Bills Card

Save Energy, Save Money - It’s Easier Than You Think to Conserve Energy!

Small, simple steps can make a big difference in reducing energy waste and cutting costs. Start with a DIY home energy assessment: let in natural warmth by opening south-facing curtains during the day, unplug unused appliances, switch to energy-efficient LED lights, cover drafty windows, seal leaks around doors and windows, lower your thermostat at night or when you're away, and set your water heater to 120°F.

These actions not only save energy but also begin to move your home toward a low-carbon, electrified future. PG&E customers can take advantage of HomeIntel, a free program offering personalized plans and expert coaching to save even more. For additional resources and energy-saving tips, check out Fall and Winter Tips Energy Saving Tips.

Utility Bill Assistance

Community Action Marin is the local administrator for the federally funded Low Income Home energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Income-eligible residents are encouraged to apply for bill pay and home efficiency upgrade assistance.

Home energy Score Card

Spring cleaning is right around the corner. With all the incentive programs available, 2025 is a great year to add home efficiency projects to your spring cleaning checklist.

One way you can start is getting a Home Energy Score. Each Home Energy Score provides a 1 to 10 "score" for your home that tells you how efficient your house is compared to similar-sized homes. It also comes with a custom recommendation list from your Home Score Assessor so you can prioritize projects.

BayREN provides a $200 rebate for each Home Energy Score in Marin, which can help cover the cost of an assessment.

Home Energy Score provides a roadmap for home efficiency and electrification projects and can help you accomplish your 2025 home energy goals.

Rebate Program Update Card

If you are in the market for a heat pump water heater or heat pump for space heating/cooling, you can potentially take advantage of the statewide rebate programs TECH and HEEHRA.

TECH and HEEHRA are incentive programs that are available across California. For this reason, funding levels and program availability can be volatile. You can monitor funding levels for the Northern California region, income bracket specific programs, and project type, on the TECH Clean CA inventive budget report. You can also sign up for updates from TECH.

Since HEEHRA and TECH are both contractor driven programs, make sure to ask your contractor what is currently available and what you qualify for. You can search for TECH/HEEHRA participating contractors on the Switch is On website.

Marin residents can also take advantage of the county-run Electrify Marin rebate program for gas-to-heat pump and gas cooking-to-induction projects.
