Senate Bill 1383 Passes Major Deadline
Senate Bill 1383, also known as the Short-Lived Climate Pollutants Act, has passed a major deadline as of January 1, 2024. All Californians (residents, businesses, schools, apartments) must ensure that they keep organics such as food scraps, yard waste, and paper/cardboard are kept out of landfill. Businesses must also provide color-coded, labeled recycling and compost bins as options directly next to landfill bins. Zero Waste Marin will also begin enforcement of these requirements as of January 1, 2024. We will emphasize education on the law and provide support to become compliant.

Bring Your Thermos with You!
Americans use an estimated 136 million disposable coffee cups per day. These coffee cups are used for only minutes, are lined with plastic, and cannot be recycled or composted. Commit to bringing your reusable mug or thermos with you and avoid creating this waste altogether!
