Happy New Year!
Welcome to the District 5 Newsletter and my first community update as your County Supervisor. This newsletter will serve as an opportunity to share information about countywide and District 5 specific updates, events, and happenings.

On January 3, I was officially sworn in as your Marin County Supervisor representing District 5. At our Board of Supervisors meeting today, I had the honor of having a public swearing-in ceremony, and it was great to see so many of you there!
As we kick off 2023, one of my initial priorities will be connecting with you. I will be reaching out to local community groups, neighborhoods, and local nonprofits to learn what issues are important to you and how I can best serve our community.
Together, we will tackle issues both big and small -- and hopefully have a little fun along the way!

We may not have had the opportunity to meet, and I would like to take a moment to share a little about me and my team.
Prior to being elected to the Marin County Board of Supervisors, I served on the Novato City Council for 11 years with a few rotations as Mayor. Novato is where I grew up, fell in love, got married, and am now raising a family. My wife Kiley and I are proud parents of two children, Noah and Selah. I have a vested interest in ensuring Novato and Marin County remain a great place to live, work, recreate, and retire for our entire community.
As your Supervisor, I am excited to bring my passion, long-term relationships, and local government experience to the county-level and represent Novato, a community that I love.
The District 5 team also includes Tanya Albert and Leslie Weber. Both Tanya and Leslie worked for former Supervisor Judy Arnold for over 10 years, and I suspect that many of you have had the pleasure of working with them at one point or another. They are both Novato residents and share a strong connection with our community. I am thrilled to have this continuity of staff who bring with them a wealth of knowledge about District 5, county services, and a commitment to serve our residents.
We have hit the ground running and are looking forward to working with you!

At our Board of Supervisors meeting today, I was appointed by my fellow Board members to serve on several county and regional boards, including Chair of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Priority Setting Committee, Member of the First 5 Children and Families Commission, Director of the Sonoma-Marin Rail Transit District (SMART), and Commissioner of the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). I was also appointed to serve on the following Board of Supervisor Subcommittees: Climate Action, Financial Audit Advisory, Homelessness and Supportive Housing, and Juvenile Justice.
One of the appointments I would like to highlight is the First 5 Children and Families Commission. As a father of two young children, I understand the importance of early childhood development, and I am looking forward to serving as a member of this commission to advocate for and advance opportunities for all children in Marin.
I will be participating in the First 5 Marin’s Communications Forum on Friday, January 13 from 10:30am–Noon via Zoom. At the forum I will be sharing a little more about myself and my plans and priorities for the coming year. Also participating in the forum will be the newly elected District 1 Supervisor Mary Sackett and Assemblymember Damon Connolly. Register to receive the meeting link.
