Tam Valley Sea Level Rise Community Listening Session, February 3, 7pm
If you live or work in Tam Valley, or travel through the area, you are on the front lines of sea level rise. The Birdland and Kay Park neighborhoods are vulnerable to rising sea levels and flooding from storms. How do we adapt?
The Tam Valley SLR Task Force is hosting a Listening Session for the community and elected representatives which include Senator Mike McGuire, Supervisors Moulton-Peters and Rodoni, and others who have been invited.
You are invited to attend and share your concerns and ideas with our elected representative and Marin County planners. The zoom link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88958323674?pwd=V0tET01Sc2ttRnhVbytWWHJJTU01dz09
More Opportunities to Participate in the Housing Element through the Balancing Act
Balancing Act is an online tool to help users create their own housing plan out of the list of potential housing sites for the Housing Element. The housing plans included are called "scenarios".
Each of the four Housing Sites Scenarios builds upon a specific Guiding Principle, as presented and accepted at the December 7, 2021, Joint Session with the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission. Each scenario includes housing site strategies related to surplus school, County, and State lands; religious institutions; vacant lands; and commercial and residential sites not currently used to their full potential.
Each scenario will be refined in 2022 based on more detailed study of environmental and infrastructure constraints, and community feedback. The Balancing Act scenarios, which contain candidate housing sites, are available on our Balancing Act and Housing Sites Feedback page.
The maximum number of sites have been included at the outset to provide the most flexibility. Do not worry! Many will be winnowed out through the process of elimination given constraints that are identified along the way. Possible housing sites have been identified with the following goals in mind:
- Ensure Countywide Distribution
- Address Racial Equity and Historic Patterns of Segregation
- Encourage Infill and Redevelopment Opportunities
- Consider Environmental Hazards
Please avail yourselves of all the information available on this process. Go to the main Community Development Agency (CDA) webpage Housing and Safety Elements page. Housing Sites FAQs can be accessed on the CDA page dedicated to frequently asked questions
Office hours are one more way of gaining information and for you to have a say in the process.
