Every quarter, the City issues this Sustainable Manhattan Beach newsletter to share with the community information about programs and resources for our residents and businesses, upcoming events, and environmental updates and news from the City.
|
|
|
The City is working to identify locations in our neighborhoods that might make a good community resilience center, which is a place that provides shelter and resources during climate and other emergencies.
When you think of a community resilience center, what do you see? Maybe shade to stay cool, outlets to charge your devices, games for the kids, free food and water... What else?
Let us know what you and your family need by completing this short survey, and be entered to win an Energy Efficiency Gift Basket worth $40!

Nobody wants to share their home or garden with pests, but using chemical pesticides to manage them can be unhealthy and often doesn't work. Fortunately, there are many effective sustainable pest management techniques that don’t include use of chemical pesticides.
Visit the South Bay Sustainable Pest Management webpage to find out how to:
- Prevent pests in your home and garden
- Remove Pests Sustainably
- Safely use and dispose of pesticides when necessary
Not all critters and crawlers are pests! Many insects and spiders in your garden are beneficial to your plants (by eating the pests we don't want) and to humans (by eating mosquitoes!)
