Climate Action and Adaptation Plan Update
Over the past several years, the City has been working to draft a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP). The CAAP is a comprehensive plan designed to align the City’s policies with state and regional climate goals. It represents an opportunity for the City to proactively shape a sustainable, resilient future and it serves as a blueprint for the City's climate-related decisions and investments over the coming decades. The CAAP will position the City as a leader in sustainability, committed to reducing emissions, enhancing resilience, and improving the quality of life for all residents.

Clean Power Alliance (CPA) is the City's electrical supply provider, offering clean, renewable energy at competitive rates to our community. CPA purchases clean power and Southern California Edison delivers it.
As of December 2024, 96.5% of Manhattan Beach customers are receiving 100% green power through CPA. 100% Green Power is supplied with solar and wind energy produced in California.
|
|
Since 2018, CPA members have saved an estimated 12.9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions - the equivalent of 96.9 million trees planted and grown for ten years!
As a non-profit organization, CPA brings many benefits to the City and the community.
CPA Community Benefits:
Energy Team is a free service to help residents and small businesses with support on electrical upgrades, finding available rebates, and strategies to save money on electricity bills. The Energy Team is comprised of real experts, "no AI or bots here!"
Sun Storage Rebate: Up to 1,000 residential customers can receive rebates up to $1000 ($750 plus $250 for income-eligible customers) when they install an eligible solar battery storage system in their home.

Beach Cities Green Streets Project
As part of our Ocean Protection Series, the Beach Cities Green Streets Project highlights a collaborative effort between Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, and the Los Angeles County Flood Control District through the Beach Cities Enhanced Watershed Management Plan.
This initiative is designed to help cities meet water quality standards and protect Santa Monica Bay by incorporating innovative "green" features into local streets.
Improvements such as bio-filtration, planter swales, and dry wells enhance stormwater management, contributing to a cleaner and healthier ocean for everyone.
