Summer is here, and so is the countdown to the improved myCalSTRS experience. The improvements to myCalSTRS will include stronger security and new self-service tools.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Starting August 29, myCalSTRS self-service tools, secure messaging and other online requests will be suspended to prepare for the transition to the updated portal.

• From September 9 to September 25, myCalSTRS will be offline to migrate to the new pension administration system.

If you’re receiving a monthly benefit payment, we encourage you to do the following before August 29:

• Sign up for direct deposit or make any necessary changes to your existing direct deposit account.

• Print payment information and tax-related paperwork like 1099-Rs if you’ll need it in September.

• Review and make sure your one-time death benefit recipient information is current.

• Confirm your contact information, mailing address, email address and phone numbers are correct.

Why is CalSTRS making these changes?

These improvements to myCalSTRS will give you an efficient way to update your profile and preferences, easily access CalSTRS documents, additional ways to use of secure messages, manage your direct deposit and more.

Here are some new enhancements you’ll find:

• View, download and print 1099-R, W-2 and 1042-S forms.

• Sign up for and manage direct deposit.

• Change or add beneficiaries.

• Save messages, attach and send documents with secure messaging.

• Access CalSTRS generated documents and upload your documents.

• Add multiple addresses, email addresses and phone numbers to your profile.

• Log-in with two-step authentication.
