The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will be holding an informal public workshop on May 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The purpose of this workshop is to solicit feedback from the public, the regulated community, and other interested persons on updates to the draft regulatory language to implement the statutory addition of aerosol coating products, nonindustrial coatings, and coating-related products into the Architectural Paint Recovery Program, which was renamed the Paint Product Recovery Program. Product Recovery Program regulations are necessary to clarify existing language and to implement, make specific, and clarify Assembly Bill 1526 (Committee on Natural Resources, Chapter 848, Statutes of 2023) and Senate Bill 1143 (Allen, Chapter 989, Statutes of 2024)
More information, including a detailed agenda, will be made available through the Paint Stewardship listserv.
You can also subscribe to the Proposed Regulations Listserv for more information regarding rulemaking developments.
Please note that under the California Public Records Act (Government Code section 7920.000 et seq.), your written and oral comments, attachments, and associated contact information (e.g., your address, phone, email, etc.) become part of the public record and can be released to the public upon request.
