$10.1 Million Available for the Increased Recycling of Empty Glass Beverage Containers Grant Program
CalRecycle is pleased to announce that the Increased Recycling of Empty Glass Beverage Containers Grant Program Cycle 2 is open for applications.
Grant applications are due December 4, 2025.

Grant Details
The purpose of the grant is to assist in funding regional pilot programs that are supplying bins for collection of empty glass beverage containers from restaurants and on-sale retailed licensed establishments (on-sale beer and wine licenses, on-sale general licenses, and on-sale general licenses for seasonal businesses), with the goal of increasing the recycling of glass beverage containers.
Funding
- The applicant must match the amount of any grant received from the grant program in an amount equal to or greater than the grant amount.
- $4,000,000 is available for each fiscal year (FY).
- $10,198,550 is available for Cycle 2 (FY) 2025-26.
- The minimum requested amount is $500,000 per applicant per fiscal year (FY).
- Up to $2,000,000 is the maximum available per applicant per fiscal year (FY).

The Increased Recycling of Empty Glass Beverage Containers Grant Program's goal is to establish a regional pilot program which include:
- The purchasing of bins for the collection of empty glass beverage containers at restaurants and on-sale retail licensed establishments.
- The collection and consolidation of contents from bins.
- The transportation of the empty glass beverage containers that are collected to a glass processing facility.

- Supplies and materials for collecting and consolidating glass beverage containers.
- Vehicles/Trucks being utilized to perform grant activities.
- Mileage costs.
- Personnel directly related to implement the project.

- Certified Recycling Center
- Certified Collection/Drop-Off (CP) Program
- Certified Community Service (SP) Program
Organizational Types include:
- Local Governments
- Non-profit Organizations
- Private, for-profit entities
- Qualifying Tribal Entities
