On June 16, 2025, CalRecycle's director disapproved The Drug Takeback Solutions Foundation's (Foundation) request to use supplemental mail-back services in lieu of authorized collection sites in perpetuity throughout the state.

On June 17, 2025, CalRecycle’s director disapproved Foundation's proposed changes to its stewardship plan for covered drugs regarding a notification process for potential authorized collectors and other changes. CalRecycle reviewed this proposed change as a significant change pursuant to Public Resources Code section 42032(e) and

California Code of Regulations section 18973.1(i).
