Public Education and Outreach Campaign

This notice is an update to the listserv message that was sent out on April 22, 2025. This is being sent to update local jurisdictions, including annual reporting and SLCP (primary), and interested parties contacts about what will be coming starting at the end of June. Additional listserv notices will be sent out with more details, such as when the website is live.

CalRecycle is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its public education and outreach campaign. This campaign has two specific calls-to-action: putting food scraps in the green bin and redeem California Redemption Value (CRV) beverage containers (including newly added wine and liquor containers) at recycling sites.

• Starting in late June, you may see and hear general campaign ads online, on the radio, while watching TV, or when you’re out running errands. More campaign ads specific to CRV recycling or (where applicable) putting food scraps in the green bin are expected later this fall. The campaign will run through the end of 2026.
• The ads will direct users to the website, which has a toolkit for local jurisdictions with campaign materials that can be downloaded and shared with the jurisdictions’ community. A listserv message will be sent out to you later this month with the website information.
