Recent legislation, AB 2902 (Wood, 2024) and AB 2346 (Lee, 2024), provides jurisdictions with additional options for complying with the recovered organic waste product procurement requirements in 14 CCR Section 18993.1.
To assist jurisdictions CalRecycle has developed guidance on the following:
- Rural exemption extension
- Adjusted recovered organic waste procurement targets
- Bear bin container requirements
- Direct service provider agreements
- Additional eligible recovered organic waste products
