Grant Details
CalRecycle provides the Increased Recycling of Empty Glass Beverage Containers Grant Program to assist in funding regional pilot programs that are supplying bins for collection of empty glass beverage containers from restaurants and on-sale retail licensed establishments (on-sale beer and wine licenses, on-sale general licenses, and on-sale general licenses for seasonal businesses), with the goal of increasing the recycling of glass beverage containers We anticipate announcing grant awards during CalRecycle's March Public Meeting.
Funding
- $4,000,000 available for each fiscal year.
- Up to $2,000,000 is the maximum available per applicant per fiscal year (FY).
Eligibility Requirements

Project Types
- Purchasing bins for the collection of empty glass beverage containers at restaurants and on-sale retail licensed establishments.
- Collection and consolidation of contents from the bins.
- Transportation of the empty glass beverage containers that are collected to a glass processing facility.

- Local governments (cities, counties, or cities and counties) as defined in PRC section 30109
- Qualifying Tribal Entities
- Non-profit Organizations
- Private, for-profit entities

Costs
- Supplies and materials related to the collection and consolidation of glass beverage containers (e.g. bins, other supplies connected to collection and consolidation)
- Personnel directly related to the project
- Vehicles/Trucks
