Notice of
SB 156 Handling Fee Regulations
Workshop in Southern California
The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will be holding an informal public workshop on 11/14/2024 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The purpose of this workshop is to consult with the public, the regulated community, and other interested persons to solicit feedback on draft regulatory concepts, which update the methodology to be used for calculating the per-container handling fee paid to eligible participants. The purpose of these draft regulatory concepts is to implement, make specific, and clarify SB 156, Chapter 72, Statutes of 2024.
The public workshop will be accessible in-person at the Haagen-Smit Auditorium, California Air Resource Board Southern California Headquarters, located at 4001 Iowa Avenue, Riverside, California. In-person attendees may participate and submit oral public feedback on the proposed regulatory concepts.
In-person attendees will also be able to participate in a meet-and-greet before the public workshop with Amy Cameron, Assistant Director, Beverage Container Program, starting at 5:00 pm in the Haagen-Smit Auditorium. This will be an opportunity for Recycling Centers to share concerns regarding the Beverage Container Recycling Program with CalRecycle staff.
The public workshop will also be broadcast online viewing only via Zoom and Webcast. The webcast link will be available on the CalEPA Public Webcasts prior to the meeting.
A separate Northern California Public Workshop will be held in Sacramento on December 2, 2024, and more information will be shared at a later date.
