Battery-Embedded Products Informal Rulemaking Workshop
The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will hold an informal public workshop on August 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to consult with the public on select requirements outlined in Senate Bill 1215 (Newman, Chapter 370, Statutes of 2022). The purpose of this workshop is to introduce draft regulatory text and solicit feedback from the public, regulated community, and other interested parties as staff begin to draft regulatory language to implement, interpret, and make specific certain provisions of SB 1215 (codified in Public Resources Code sections 41516 – 42485). A copy of the draft regulation text has been posted on the public notice.
Workshop Topics include:
- Emergency Rulemaking Process
- SB 1215 Statutory Overview
- Proposed Regulatory Text
- Public Feedback Regarding Regulatory Text
Please note, in this workshop CalRecycle will not cover battery-embedded product determinations or discuss regulatory concepts regarding “commonly used household tools” or “designed to be easily removed,” which will be discussed at a future workshop.
