SB 54 Advisory Board Remote Attendance

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Pursuant to the Bagley-Kene Open Meeting Act [Government Code 11123.5 (c)], CalRecycle is providing at least 24-hour notice that the following advisory board members will be attending the advisory board meeting remotely:

• Christy Pestoni, Director of Government Affairs of Waste Connections, Representative from a materials recovery facility located within the State of California
• Tedd Ward, Director of Del Norte Waste Management Authority, Nominated by a Statewide Rural County Association
• Thomas A. Helme, Co-Founder & Project Director of Valley Improvement Projects, Representative from an environmental justice organization

• Rachel Michelin, President & Chief Executive Officer of the California Retailers Association, Representative from a statewide association representing the retail sector

On July 19, 2024, CalRecycle will host an Advisory Board meeting for the implementation of SB 54 (Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022). During this meeting, the Advisory Board will discuss:

• Presentation from CalRecycle: Updates and Next Steps on SB 54 Regulations
• Presentation and Discussion: Colorado Producer Responsibility Program
• Barrier and Solutions to a Circular Economy, Consistent with SB 54: Compostability/Compostable Covered Materials
• Barrier and Solutions to a Circular Economy, Consistent with SB 54: Leakage of Plastic into the Environment
• Next Steps and Advisory Board Role Related to the SB 54 Plastic Pollution Mitigation Fund
