Thank you to those who joined us for one or both of our Lompoc Parks & Recreation Movies in the Park this summer, first Kung Fu Panda 4 and then Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire this past weekend.

The Lompoc Public Library has been busy, busy busy this summer with programs.
From magic shows to Books and Bubbles at the Park featuring a visit from our Lompoc firefighters and police officers, the Lompoc Library has quite the array of summer programming.
Just over a week remains for the Lompoc Public Library Summer Reading Challenge: Read, Renew, Repeat.
Lompoc community readers have already more than exceeded the original reading goal of 100,000 minutes read and are close to the increased goal of 250,000 minutes read. Those who read 600 or more minutes and record their minutes read will be entered into the grand prize drawing for their age group. Readers have until July 31 to log their reading. The prize drawings will be done on August 1.
To log minutes read, participants should go to the library’s Beanstack reading tracker at http://cityoflompoc.beanstack.org or call the library at (805) 875-8775.
Also back this year is Lunch at the Library, with meals provided for children and teens at the library through a partnership with Lompoc Unified School District. Meals are available on the youth patio from June 17 through July 31, Monday – Friday, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Along with healthy meals, there will be free activities provided.
More information on the Lompoc Library, including activities scheduled as part of the Summer Reading Challenge, is posted online at: https://www.cityoflompoc.com/government/departments/library#!/.
Energy-efficient light poles are being installed at Lompoc City Hall, and will soon be coming to other Lompoc facilities. Thank you, Lompoc Electric!
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the brand new playground and fitness area at Pioneer Park.
Children and families came out to enjoy the amenities on July 2 before we could even cut the ribbon on the project, and we loved to see it.
The words of one young attendee perhaps summed it up best when he was overheard saying, "This park is so cool. I want to come here every day."
Thank you to Lompoc Parks & Recreation for their dedication to seeing this project through, and to Congressman Salud Carbajal for his work securing funding that made this new playground and fitness area possible. Now come play in Pioneer Park!
Here is a video highlighting the ribbon-cutting put together by our own TAP T.V.:
