We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the new playground and exercise equipment at Pioneer Park.
The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2 to celebrate this exciting enhancement to our community space.
The event will be a kick-off celebration of Parks and Recreation Month in July. This year’s theme – “Where You Belong” – celebrates the many ways park and recreation professionals across the country foster a sense of belonging in their community by providing welcoming and inclusive programs, essential services for all ages and abilities, and safe, accessible spaces to build meaningful connections. The event will feature remarks from city officials and community leaders, followed by the official ribbon-cutting and an opportunity to explore the new amenities. The improvements at Pioneer Park include:
• Inclusive playground: Designed for children of all ages and abilities, featuring safe, durable, and engaging play structures. A PlayCore triple national demonstration site. • Outdoor exercise equipment: Accessible and easy-to-use fitness stations for community members to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
Event Details: • Date: July 2, 2024 • Time: 11 a.m. • Location: Pioneer Park, 1209 E. Airport Ave., Lompoc
Refreshments will be provided, and families are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy the new playground immediately following the ceremony. This event is free and open to the public. We look forward to celebrating with our community and enhancing the quality of life in our beautiful city.
Residents of the Lompoc Valley are invited to share your opinions and ideas regarding the future of the City of Lompoc’s local transit service.
The bilingual survey is available online through July 10 at LompocTransitFuture.com. Survey takers will be entered for a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card.
City of Lompoc Transit (COLT) offers services including four local bus routes, door-to-door transport for older adults, and persons with disabilities (regardless of age), a three-times daily service linking Lompoc with Buellton and Solvang, and a twice weekly shuttle to Santa Barbara and Goleta. The city also contributes to the operation of the Breeze bus service to Santa Maria and the Clean Air Express commuter bus service.
Similar to other public transit providers in California, COLT experienced a significant ridership decline beginning with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spring 2020. While ridership has increased slowly across the last two years, ridership has yet to return to pre-pandemic levels. This decreased ridership is a catalyst for the current Transit Future study.
Lompoc Parks and Recreation is once again combining two of our favorites this summer: movies and the park.
Twice this summer, movies will be shown on a giant inflatable screen in the old section of Ryon Park. The first of the summer series is Kung Fu Panda 4 on Saturday, June 29. Then, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on Saturday, July 20.
The free movies will begin at dusk (around 8 p.m.), and families are encouraged to bring low-back chairs, blankets and snacks. This is a family-friendly event where vaping, smoking and alcohol consumption are not permitted. We also ask, for the safety of everyone, that pets remain at home.
Community members looking for more information on Movies in the Park may contact Lompoc Parks and Recreation at: (805)-875-8100.
