City Hall will be closed in observance of Presidents' Day on Monday, February 19. City Hall will reopen on Tuesday, February 20.

Community Workshop

La Quinta Car Show

Come out to the 17th Annual La Quinta Hot Rod and Custom Car Show on Saturday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Brought to you by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of La Quinta, this event will be held at the La Quinta Community Park (near the La Quinta Museum), located at 77-865 Avenida Montezuma. Ric Vigallon has been making metal creations for over 30 years. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, he always had a passion for art, and his distinctive metal works are made of stainless steel and aluminum with dyes and acids to create gorgeous finishes. Each sculpture is handmade, and no two sculptures are exactly alike. Vigallon lives and works with his family in Joshua Tree, California.

Upcoming Wellness Center Closures

The La Quinta Wellness Center gym will be closed for maintenance beginning Tuesday, February 20 through Saturday, February 24, 2024. Fitness classes will continue as scheduled while the gym is closed during this week.

The Wellness Center will fully close to the public due to the La Quinta Art Celebration on Monday, February 26 through Monday, March 4, 2024. During these closures, Wellness Center fitness members will have access to Desert Recreation District’s La Quinta Community Fitness Center located at: 77865 Avenida Montezuma; (760) 564-9921. Please remember to bring your fitness card with you to access their facility. *Please note: Peak times at this facility are mornings between 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. The hours of operation at this site are Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

X Park

The X Park is open seven days a week! The hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 12 to 9 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Resident fees are $2 for a daily use pass and $25 for an annual pass. Non-resident fees are $5 for a daily use pass and $50 for an annual pass. Skateboards, bikes, scooters, and rollerblades are welcome! Creation Station: Sublimation Printing Class

New Sublimation Printing Class starting Wednesday, February 14th! Learn how to design templates and use heat presses to create custom designs with images created made out of heat transferable ink. There is a MakerSpace Level 1 Class Fee of $20 (Make-and-Take Custom Tumbler).

FREE Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Short-Term Vacation Rentals

Short-Term Vacation Rental (STVR) information and the weekly STVR Active & Suspended Permit List is available on the City’s website at: https://www.laquintaca.gov/STVR.

Active STVR permit holders can access their account 24/7 to complete their monthly TOT reporting online, submit and pay for STVR permit renewals, as well as easily manage their account by using the City’s online STVR portal at: http://laquinta.munirevs.com.

The March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election is almost upon us. Residents can drop off their vote-by-mail ballots or cast their vote in-person at any of the locations listed below.

Business Licenses:

Staff issued 69 business licenses and collected $9,194.90 for the week of February 4^th  through February 11^th.

Permit Center:

The Hub/Permit Services is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm. To make an appointment or for any questions call (760) 777-7125 or via email at customercenter@laquintaca.gov.

Staff received 89 permit applications and issued 85 permits for the week of February 4^th  through February 11^th.

Permits include building construction, land use and special events, garage sales, public works encroachment, fire system installations and code compliance inspections.

Building:

Completed 105 Plan Reviews and performed 369 Inspections for the week of February 4^th  through February 11^th.

Building permits were issued for two single family dwellings within the communities of Andalusia and the Hideaway.

A Tenant Improvement Permit was issued for a Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream Shop to occupy a tenant space at 79630 Highway 111 Suite 100 within the Dunes Business Park located on the Northwest Corner of Depot Dr and Highway 111.

New Development Updates:

The Planning Commission held its regular meeting on February 13, 2024, where the Commission granted a continuance of the public hearing for a Development Agreement with Estates at Griffin Lake to March 26, 2024, to address short-term vacation rentals and the performance schedule within this tract.

Dune Palms Bridge Update:

** Dune Palms Road remains closed until further notice. **

The Dune Palms Road closure will continue until further notice. Please use Westward Ho Dr. and Jefferson St., or take alternate routes.

Other Projects:

PMP Slurry Seal Project – Contractors are removing and replacing concrete, crack fill, striping removal on La Fonda and on Washington. They are also continuing to grade for new bike lane on Monroe.

Cactus Flower Project – Contractor is continuing with landscape demolition along Fred Waring and Dune Palms adjacent to the Cactus Flower Development.

Avenue 52 Landscape Restoration – All plant materials have been installed. Staff is putting in the hardscape.

Road Work Alert for February 7-16:

Code Compliance:

• Code Compliance has inspected 70 properties, opened 18 cases, closed 78 cases, issued 5 courtesy notices, 5 notices of violation, 7 final notices of violation, 4 administrative citations, and 144 other actions, and handled 36 phone calls.
• Code Compliance has a full-service voicemail system. The mailbox will be monitored regularly. Callers can leave their messages/requests as follows for:
• Report a Code Compliance Issue - leave a detailed message including the property address or, the specific location, the nature of the complaint, and any pertinent details relating to the reported violation. Code Compliance will investigate the concern and address any observed violations. The reporting party may contact Code Compliance at 760-777-7050 and request an update. 
• Inspection requests for a pool drain, home-occupation, or short-term special inspection, please leave a message with the permit number, address, type of inspection, and requested inspection date and time along with a name and call back number.
• For general code compliance related questions or to report a code issue, please email codecompliancemail@laquintaca.gov
• Complaints at permitted Short-Term Vacation Rentals - for an actively occurring report, please contact the STVR hotline at 760-777-7157. A resident may confirm that a specific address has a STVR permit by visiting the City’s website.

• For questions or to pay an administrative or parking citation, please call the Citation Processing Center at 1-800-989-2058 or visit citationprocessingcenter.com.
