5th Annual La Quinta Book Fest
The La Quinta Public Library will be hosting the 5th Annual La Quinta Book Fest on Saturday, February 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Book Fest is a chance for Coachella Valley residents to dive head first into literary topics, giving the community a chance to hear from and discuss literature with the authors themselves.
The theme this year, "An Ode to the Desert," celebrates the Coachella Valley in literature. There will be a short reading, discussion panel, and book signing with our three guest authors: Tod Goldberg, Steven Rowley, and Susan Straight!

Art on Main Street
Come out to Art on Main Street on Saturday, February 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Old Town La Quinta. The City of La Quinta is the premier sponsor of Art on Main Street, which features over 100 artists each season. Meet local artists selling their paintings, jewelry, mixed media, photography, textiles, glass, and more. Celebrate the arts amidst Main Street’s charming cafes and boutiques.

The X Park is open seven days a week! Non-resident fees are $5 for a daily use pass and $50 for an annual pass. Skateboards, bikes, scooters, and rollerblades are welcome! Short-Term Vacation Rental (STVR) information and the weekly STVR Active & Suspended Permit List is available on the City’s website at: https://www.laquintaca.gov/STVR.
Active STVR permit holders can access their account 24/7 to complete their monthly TOT reporting online, submit and pay for STVR permit renewals, as well as easily manage their account by using the City’s online STVR portal at: http://laquinta.munirevs.com.

Staff issued 52 business licenses and collected $3,759.00 for the week January 22nd through January 28th.
Permit Center:

Staff received 106 permit applications and issued 82 permits for the week January 22nd through January 28th.
Permits include building construction, land use and special events, garage sales, public works encroachment, fire system installations and code compliance inspections.

Completed 79 Plan Reviews and performed 313 Inspections for the week of January 22nd through January 28th.
New Development Updates:
A building permit was issued for construction of a 3,460 square foot single family dwelling within the Residential Cove community.

Dune Palms Bridge Update:

The Dune Palms Road closure will continue until further notice. Please use Westward Ho Dr. and Jefferson St., or take alternate routes.

Other Projects:
PMP Slurry Seal Project – Project will begin on Monday, February 5, 2024, and should be completed at the beginning of April.
Project locations will be Washington Street, between Eisenhower and Via Bolero, Monroe Street between Avenue 52 and Avenue 62, Avenida Martinez, Avenida Mendoza, La Fonda and Calle Madrid.
North La Quinta Landscape Renovation – Cactus Flower project will begin on Monday, February 5, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of May.
Project locations will be along Dune Palms Road, from Fred Waring to Star Flower Trail. Also, on Fred Waring from Dune Palms to 400’ West of Monticello. They will be working on four basins inside of the Cactus Flower Community. There will also be planting installations along Jefferson Street, south of Avenue 50.
