Art on Main Street

Come out to Art on Main Street on Saturday, February 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Old Town La Quinta. The City of La Quinta is the premier sponsor of Art on Main Street, which features over 100 artists each season. Meet local artists selling their paintings, jewelry, mixed media, photography, textiles, glass, and more. Celebrate the arts amidst Main Street’s charming cafes and boutiques.

Concerts in the Park

The Don

Art Piece: The Don (1996)

Artist: Bill Ware

Location: Washington St. and Avenue 48

Designed by Bill Ware, the artwork consists of a conquistador "Don" on a horse. The Don is made of brass, bronze, and copper; the horse is made of solid aluminum. The art piece is located on the corner of Avenue 48 and Washington Street at Rancho La Quinta Country Club. It was purchased in May, 1996.

Fritz Burns Pool

Fritz Burns Pool in La Quinta has plenty to offer visitors of all ages. Available programs include Arthritis Water Therapy, Aqua Fit, Adult Water Aerobic, and open/lap swim. X Park

The X Park is open seven days a week! The new hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 12 to 9 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Resident fees are $2 for a daily use pass and $25 for an annual pass. Non-resident fees are $5 for a daily use pass and $50 for an annual pass. Skateboards, bikes, scooters, and rollerblades are welcome! Short-Term Vacation Rental (STVR) information and the weekly STVR Active & Suspended Permit List is available on the City’s website at: https://www.laquintaca.gov/STVR.

Active STVR permit holders can access their account 24/7 to complete their monthly TOT reporting online, submit and pay for STVR permit renewals, as well as easily manage their account by using the City’s online STVR portal at: http://laquinta.munirevs.com.

Voter Registration

The March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election is almost upon us. Residents can drop off their vote-by-mail ballots or cast their vote in-person at any of the locations listed below.

Business Licenses:

Staff issued 43 business licenses and collected $5,698.50 for the week January 14^th through January 21^st.

Permit Center:

The Hub/Permit Services is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm. To make an appointment or for any questions call (760) 777-7125 or via email at customercenter@laquintaca.gov.

Staff received 95 permit applications and issued 71 permits for the week January 14^th through January 21^st.

Permits include building construction, land use and special events, garage sales, public works encroachment, fire system installations and code compliance inspections.

Building:

Completed 62 Plan Reviews and performed 324 Inspections for the week of January 14^th through January 21^st.

New Development Updates:

The Planning Commission held its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, where the Commission approved a recommendation for City Council approval of the following project:

Club at Coral Mountain, located within the Andalusia Specific Plan, south of Avenue 58, east and west of Madison Street, and north of Avenue 60, which includes the following:

• A General Plan Amendment and Zone Change to amend the configuration of golf course and low-density residential lands west of Madison Street.
• A Specific Plan Amendment to modify acreage for golf course and low-density residential lands and design guidelines for the west side of Madison Street to allow 750 residential units, a golf course, and 60,000 square feet of retail commercial space.
• A Tentative Tract Map for financing purposes only to subdivide 387± acres into 7 lots.
• A Development Agreement to establish the responsibilities of the Developer relating to this project.
• The Planning Commission also recommended that Council review and implement limitations to allowable Short-Term Vacation Rental permitting.

A Tenant Improvement Permit was issued for a 1,500 square-foot Krak Boba Drink Store at 78995 Highway 111 Suite 2 within the Washington Park Development located on the Southwest Corner of Adams St and Highway 111.

Dune Palms Bridge Update:

** Dune Palms Road remains closed until further notice. **

The Dune Palms Road closure will continue until further notice. Please use Westward Ho Dr. and Jefferson St., or take alternate routes.

Other Projects:

Avenue 52 Median Restoration – The trees have been installed. Grading is almost complete and plant installation will begin this week.

Disaster Preparedness Training Seminar

The Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network (CVDPN) will be conducting a Disaster Preparedness training seminar at the La Quinta Wellness Center on Thursday, February 1, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Each attendee will receive a free "Ready-to-Go" bag and an educational plan that includes information about:

• How to prepare your home, your car, and place of work or school.

• The importance of knowing your neighbors.

• Having a communication plan.

• How to survive and thrive.

Training is complimentary thanks to Trilogy at La Quinta. Registration is limited to the first 200 people. This is a FREE event and light refreshments will be served.

Code Compliance:

• Code Compliance has inspected 73 properties, opened 18 cases, closed 25 cases, issued 8 courtesy notices, 7 notices of violation, 1 administrative citation, and 93 other actions, and handled 54 phone calls.
• Code Compliance has a full-service voicemail system. The mailbox will be monitored regularly. Callers can leave their messages/requests as follows for:
• Report a Code Compliance Issue - leave a detailed message including the property address or, the specific location, the nature of the complaint, and any pertinent details relating to the reported violation. Code Compliance will investigate the concern and address any observed violations. The reporting party may contact Code Compliance at 760-777-7050 and request an update. 
• Inspection requests for a pool drain, home-occupation, or short-term special inspection, please leave a message with the permit number, address, type of inspection, and requested inspection date and time along with a name and call back number.
• For general code compliance related questions or to report a code issue, please email codecompliancemail@laquintaca.gov
• Complaints at permitted Short-Term Vacation Rentals - for an actively occurring report, please contact the STVR hotline at 760-777-7157. A resident may confirm that a specific address has a STVR permit by visiting the City’s website.

• For questions or to pay an administrative or parking citation, please call the Citation Processing Center at 1-800-989-2058 or visit citationprocessingcenter.com.
