2024 American Express PGA Golf Tournament
The American Express PGA Tour event is being held at PGA West and La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta, CA from January 18-21, 2024. The musical headline acts are Keith Urban and Train!

Dune Palms Bridge Update:
** Dune Palms Road remains closed until further notice. **
The Dune Palms Road closure will continue until further notice. Please use Westward Ho Dr. and Jefferson St., or take alternate routes.
After the northbound bridge concrete placement, crews completed a pretesting operation prior to work starting on the bridge abutment.
Crews are backfilling the area where the waterline was removed in preparation for work to begin on the southbound bridge.

Community Workshop - Save the Date
Join the City Council and City Staff for the 2024 Community Workshop on Thursday, February 22, from 5 - 7 p.m., at the La Quinta Wellness Center. The Community Workshop is an opportunity for residents to get involved and find out what's happening in the Gem of the Desert. Staff will present projects and accomplishments from 2023 and outline new projects for La Quinta in 2024. Residents are encouraged to provide ideas for what the City should work on, or improve, and then vote for the highest priority items.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program
Burrtec is collecting Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) items directly from residential households. These HHW items include batteries (in a clear, Ziploc-style bag with both terminals taped), medical sharps, used oil containers, light bulbs, paint, yard chemicals, cleaning chemicals, and electronics.
HHW collections will be made Monday - Friday during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Collections must be scheduled with Burrtec in advance of the pick-up date. Short-Term Vacation Rental (STVR) information and the weekly STVR Active & Suspended Permit List is available on the City’s website at: https://www.laquintaca.gov/STVR.
Active STVR permit holders can access their account 24/7 to complete their monthly TOT reporting online, submit and pay for STVR permit renewals, as well as easily manage their account by using the City’s online STVR portal at: http://laquinta.munirevs.com.

The Certified Farmers Market will be held on Sunday, January 21, from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in Old Town La Quinta. Bring your reusable grocery bags and your appetite because the Certified Farmers Markets are back, bigger, and better than ever before. Art Piece: Stagecoach (2018)

Location: Washington St. & Point Happy Way
The "Stagecoach" painting was originally painted by Nancy Lynn. In 2018, the City of La Quinta, along with the La Quinta Historical Society, added a special steel art piece in the shape of a stagecoach dedicated to the fascinating history of Point Happy.

The X Park is open seven days a week! Non-resident fees are $5 for a daily use pass and $50 for an annual pass. Skateboards, bikes, scooters, and rollerblades are welcome! Staff issued 51 business licenses and collected $7,443.70 for the week January 8th through January 14th.
Permit Center:

Staff received 63 permit applications and issued 57 permits for the week January 8th through January 14th.
Permits include building construction, land use and special events, garage sales, public works encroachment, fire system installations and code compliance inspections.
Building:
Completed 93 Plan Reviews and performed 385 Inspections for the week of January 8th through January 14th.
New Development Updates:
The Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, beginning at 5:00 p.m., where the Commission will consider the following items:
A recommendation to City Council to approve the following for project located within the Andalusia Specific Plan, south of Avenue 58, east and west of Madison Street, and north of Avenue 60:
- A General Plan Amendment and Zone Change to amend the configuration of golf course and low-density residential lands on lands west of Madison Street.
- A Specific Plan Amendment to modify acreage for golf course and low-density residential lands and design guidelines for the west side of Madison Street to allow 750 residential units, a golf course, and 60,000 square feet of retail commercial space.
- A Tentative Tract Map for financing purposes only, to subdivide 387± acres into 7 lots.
- A Development Agreement to establish the responsibilities of the Developer relating to this project.
A Certificate of Occupancy was Issued for the opening of the Home Depot Tool Rental addition.

Disaster Preparedness Training Seminar
The Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network (CVDPN) will be conducting a Disaster Preparedness training seminar at the La Quinta Wellness Center on Thursday, February 1, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Each attendee will receive a free "Ready-to-Go" bag and an educational plan that includes information about:
