CV Link Update
Led by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), CV Link will connect our valley with a safer 40-mile alternative transportation and recreational corridor along the Whitewater River for bicyclists, pedestrians, and low-speed electric vehicles. It will also provide a safer route for kids to go to school and serve as a meeting place for community activities and events.
The main pathway through La Quinta is currently under construction. It runs about 2 miles along the south side of the Coachella Valley stormwater channel (also known as the Whitewater River) from Washington Street to Jefferson Street. This includes a signature promontory access point and bridge over the La Quinta stormwater channel, linking the City with Indio’s portion of CV Link.
The CV Link website features construction updates and an interactive map of the entire CV Link route that shows which portions are complete, currently under construction, and planned for the future. For more information, please visit www.laquintaca.gov/cvlink.

Art in Public Places:
Ram Skull
Art Piece: Ram Skull (2023)
Artist: Jack Zajac
Location: La Quinta Public Library (facing Civic Center Campus)
For over fifty years, Jack Zajac has created a diverse body of sculptural work. His subjects have ranged from animal skulls to flowing water, disparate images united by a desire to capture natural forms and forces and to grapple with themes of purification, sacrifice, and rebirth. Zajac began painting at a young age, and shortly after his family moved from Ohio to Southern California, he began taking art classes at Scripps College in Claremont, California. Over the next decade, Zajac received increased recognition for his paintings which balanced representational elements like birds and the sea with abstraction. In 1954, Zajac received the Rome Prize. While exposed to that city's wealth of classical sculpture, he began sculpting. Among Zajac's earliest exhibited sculpture was a series of sacrificial animals, goats and lambs sprawled over a stake or bound on their backsides. He would return to this theme over the next several decades. During the 1960s, Zajac produced a series of monumental bronzes depicting ram skulls, but also created more serene images. In polished stone and bronze, he represented falling water, breaking waves, and various animals. These subjects would continue to preoccupy him for several decades. In 1974, Zajac began teaching at University of California, Santa Cruz. Now retired, Zajac continues to live and produce sculptures in Santa Cruz. The Ram Skull is currently on display in the courtyard of the La Quinta Library and was donated by Richard Robertson, in memory of his close friend Steven M. Goldberg.
