LOS ANGELES GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER LEVEL I TRAUMA CENTER RESPONDS TO CONCERNING INCREASE IN E-BIKE INJURIES

LOS ANGELES — In response to an increase in e-bike injuries being seen by Los Angeles General Medical Center trauma, orthopedic, pediatric, and emergency specialists, the County ‘s leading Level I Trauma Center is taking injury prevention beyond the hospital and into the community.

On Thursday, October 29, Los Angeles General Medical Center will launch its new E-Bike Safety Initiative — “100 Helmets for a Safer Community” — providing 100 free helmets, helmet-fitting education and a new English and Spanish E-Bike Safety Guide designed to help children, teens and families ride more safely and recognize when medical care may be needed following an accident or injury.

A brief press conference will feature Los Angeles General Medical Center leadership and clinical experts discussing the injuries they are seeing, the importance of proper helmet use and practical steps families can take to reduce the risk of serious injury.
