This year’s theme — People, Power & Cultural Equity — will explore how LA’s arts, culture and entertainment sector must continue to build power through arts advocacy, organize community voices, and sustain our work in a contracting climate. New to this year’s summit, and in reflection of our theme, our breakout segments will be curated and led by leaders in our community. Their voices in this year’s programming have created a thrilling lineup of breakout options. Making Music for Challenging Times

Thursday, October 15, 2026 | 12PM – 1PM (PT)

Music can anchor a moment, help weather a hardship, release a stuck feeling, and activate joy. A simple song can hold the power to create meaningful change during challenging times. Join this exploratory session as we breathe, hum, sing, discover, and write songs for ourselves. Playful and creative, explore activities that stimulate the brain, regulate the nervous system, promote wellness, and motivate positive change — strengthening our connection to ourselves and to each other and our community. All are welcome — no prior experience or music education necessary. The session will be led by Kate Richards Geller, MA, MT-BC, LCAT,  a singer-songwriter and vocal improviser who holds an MA in music therapy from NYU and has worked in medical settings, schools, and community centers.

SURVEY:
Generative AI in the Performing Arts Survey

This survey is for anyone who works in the performing arts, at any career stage or in any creative role: performers, directors and choreographers, designers, and technicians. While there has been significant discussion about AI and the arts, there is very little information about how these technologies are actually affecting artists’ work, income, career opportunities, and creative practices. This research aims to fill that gap. The findings will be used to inform policy discussions, funding priorities, advocacy efforts, and field-wide support strategies for artists navigating the rapidly changing landscape of generative AI. This project is part of Artists Make Technology, a collaborative initiative anchored by Mozilla Foundation and the Doris Duke Foundation, in partnership with SMU DataArts, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, with additional support from the Ford Foundation.

From Vision to Action: A Strategic Planning & Organizational Development Intensive for Nonprofit Leaders

Thursday, October 8, 2026
9AM - 4PM (PT)
(Location TBD)

Most nonprofit leaders know they need a strategic plan, but few have the time or experience to explore how to start one, or how to bring their stakeholders along once they do. This six-hour intensive is built for Executive Directors and board members of small and mid-sized nonprofits who want to leave with more than a framework: a working set of drafted strategic direction they can bring straight back to their organization. Participants will assess their organization's real readiness to plan, refresh their mission and values, run a SWOT analysis, and draft Strategic Impact Goals with measurable indicators. They will then be given the tools to translate their top priority into a 90-day action plan with named owners and deadlines. The goal is that the session ends not with just inspiration, but with steps to build a proposal ready for the next board meeting.
