Did You Know...
- About 40% of students feel sad or hopeless for long periods of time?
- About 20% think about suicide, and almost 10% try it?
Kids, teens, and young adults may look fine, but they can still feel stress, mood changes, or pressure from school, friends, and online life. All of this is part of mental health. It affects learning, problem-solving, and relationships with others. It can also affect physical health.
Well Child Visits are a safe place to check in, and get support for physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
During a Well Child Visit, we look for signs of healthy emotions and coping skills for every stage.
Ages 3–13
Kids grow and change a lot during these years. They learn about feelings, friends, and how to deal with life’s ups and downs.
🌱We check on how they are growing, learning, and adjusting to school and home
🙂We ask about feelings, worries, and social changes
⭐We start short private check‑ins at age 12 to help them talk openly
|
Ages 14-16
Teens go through big emotional and physical changes. Mood swings and peer pressure are very common at this stage.
🔍We check for signs of anxiety, stress, and feeling down — things many families may not notice right away
💬We talk about school, home life, and friends to understand what's affecting them
🛡️We discuss safety, including vaping, substance use, and bullying — topics teens rarely bring up on their own
|
Ages 17-20
Young adults often carry more stress than people realize. They’re managing school, work, relationships, and major life changes — all while their brains are still developing decision‑making and coping skills.
📘We screen for depression, anxiety, stress levels, and substance use
🫂We talk about support for school, work, and life transitions
🌙We look for changes in sleep, appetite, or energy
