Los Angeles County, through our Commission on Human Relations’ LA vs Hate campaign, in partnership with 211 LA and the FIFA World Cup 26 Los Angeles Host Committee, are teaming up to raise awareness of our 2-1-1 line to report human right violations and concerns. You can also get support by visiting 211la.org/humanrights.
Whether someone needs assistance related to hate or discrimination, workers' rights, immigrant rights, accessibility, human trafficking, housing, legal services, or other urgent needs, this line is always free, confidential, multilingual and connects to trusted community resources.

It was an honor to join the California Science Center, Linda Oschin, and supporters to announce that the Endeavour, now positioned for launch, will be open to the public starting November 13 as the centerpiece of the new Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center at the California Science Center.
Special thanks to every person who helped making this possible, including the entire California Science Center team, Lynda Oschin, the Oschin Family Foundation, and our partners at the State - Governor Gavin Newsom, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas, Assemblymember Sade Elhawary, and State Finance Director Joe Stephenshaw for helping make this incredible public asset possible.

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) recently released a Juneteenth expansion of their Black in Los Angeles County Economic report which highlights how Black leadership, entrepreneurship, healthcare, arts and culture, and civic institutions serve as essential drivers of Los Angeles County's economy, demonstrating that these interconnected assets are critical to the region's long-term growth and prosperity.

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and we want you and your loved ones to stay safe while celebrating. We strongly encourage everyone to leave the fireworks to the professionals and attend an official fireworks show instead. To learn more about fireworks shows near you, click here. We know fireworks affect community members, our environment, and our four-legged residents in different ways. I have long shared these concerns, which is why the County has started implementing drone shows for smaller events in our district. I know we can honor this long-standing tradition while working with residents, environmental advocates, and small businesses to explore alternatives for future Fourth of July celebrations. In the meantime, here are some resources for support:

At this week's Board of Supervisors meeting, Carson residents made their voice heard about the Weingart Primrose Housing Development - a site that helps with our shared goal of getting more residents experiencing homelessness off the streets and into housing. I remain committed to listening to the community and ensuring residents have clear, factual information about the project. I issued an open letter addressing common questions about the site's selection process, the legal and funding requirements that guide the project, the steps being taken to ensure accountability to the surrounding community, and ways residents can stay informed and engaged.
