Our 6th Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Resource Fair was just the start of the many ways you can celebrate Juneteenth. Today, LACMA will be free in honor of Juneteenth. Also, be sure to visit your local LA County library for ways to learn more and join in uplifting this important day in our shared history: https://lacountylibrary.org/celebrate-juneteenth/.
Yesterday, as part of our 2nd District Arts & Culture Initiative we took over 100 residents from throughout our district to the Juneteenth celebration at the Hollywood Bowl, a special thank you to Mayor Karen Bass for joining us and to all the community organizations that participated.
We are excited to share that our office has created a first-of-its-kind partnership with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) focused on our unincorporated communities. The partnership builds on our current work together by improving school safety, addressing homelessness near schools, and increasing access to transportation, health services, and family resources in the unincorporated communities of Florence-Firestone, View Park-Windsor Hills, West Carson and Willowbrook for more than 22,000 students.
Read more about this partnership here: https://www.lausd.org/apps/news/article/2207627?categoryId=23516

Ladera Heights residents identified digital literacy as one of its top priorities through the 2nd District Community Budget program where we asked local residents to decide how we should invest in their neighborhood. In response, we partnered with Bridge the Digital Divide to offer digital literacy classes in Ladera Heights and this week, we celebrated by providing 100 free desktops and laptops to program graduates.
