Dear Neighbor,
As one of the two million residents I have the privilege of representing, you deserve to hear directly from me not just about the work we’re doing but also about the people behind it that are helping to serve the Second District.
Team Mitchell is driven by public servants who bring urgency, care, and a shared commitment to improving our communities and meeting the needs of our residents. At the center of that work has been our Chief of Staff, Fredericka McGee, whose leadership has helped define both our priorities and our progress.
Since the start of my tenure in 2020, Fredericka has been a strategic partner—joining our office at a time of unprecedented crisis and helping to build a responsive team in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on her extensive background in law and public policy, she has guided complex policy solutions and strengthened our ability to deliver results. Her influence can be seen in initiatives like our Second District Racial Justice Learning Exchange, as well as in the countless behind-the-scenes decisions that have expanded access, equity, and opportunity across our communities.
Fredericka postponed her retirement to join Team Mitchell and has since served more than five years as our Chief of Staff. Her impact will be lasting, and her dedication to public service has set a high standard for our entire team. As she prepares for retirement with her last month in the office this June, I hope you will join me in thanking her for her extraordinary contributions when you see her in the community.
True to her dedication, Fredericka is ensuring a thoughtful and seamless transition. I am honored to share that our incoming Chief of Staff will be Dr. D’Artagnan Scorza, who currently serves as Executive Director of Los Angeles County’s Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiative (ARDI). Dr. Scorza will join Team Mitchell in June, and I look forward to sharing more on this in the weeks ahead.
Keeping you informed is not an afterthought, it is an active responsibility. Transitions like this are an important moment to reaffirm that commitment and our accountability to you every step of the way.
In service, Holly J. Mitchell Los Angeles County Supervisor, Second District
