Currently, the LA County Department of Public Health has reported four cases of measles, a highly contagious respiratory disease. Measles can be prevented by the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine. To get the MMR vaccine, call your doctor or visit ph.lacounty.gov/measles. For questions or to find a nearby clinic or doctor call the Public Health Info Line at 833-540-0473 (open every day from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.). This Sunday, February 22, nearly 30 museums and cultural institutions across Southern California are offering free admission. Participating museums in the 2nd District include: Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, California African American Museum, Grammy Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, Museum of Tolerance, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and The Wende Museum.

The Harbor–UCLA Medical Center Replacement Program is making progress! As the only Level 1 Trauma Center serving the South Bay and South Central LA communities, Harbor-UCLA treats 4,500+ trauma patients each year. The new, state-of-the-art hospital—set to open by 2028—will transform the 72-acre campus to meet growing healthcare needs in West Carson and beyond.
Last year, I joined LA County Public Works, the Department of Health Services, hospital leadership, and the construction team to celebrate the steel topping out. With a workforce made up of 50% women and local hires, this project is powering ahead.
