DPSS STAFF RECOGNIZED FOR GOING BEYOND THE CALL DURING JANUARY 2025 WILDFIRES
Approximately 80 DPSS employees, activated and deployed to serve as County of Los Angeles Disaster Service Workers (DSWs) to help victims of the Eaton Canyon (Altadena) and Palisades wildfires, were recognized by Director Jackie Contreras and the Department’s leadership at the ASM/HSA III meeting in Diamond Bar on Wednesday, December 10.
DPSS employees, along with DSWs from other County Departments, were deployed on short notice earlier this January to provide critical assistance to households and individuals impacted by the wildfires.
Over 12,000 homes, businesses, schools, and other structures were destroyed. The DSWs were celebrated for their service during the wildfires and ongoing commitment to supporting DPSS customers during times of crisis.
