   Dear Neighbor,
This week I unveiled the official 2026 photograph of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, featuring our historic all-women Board inside the Walt Disney Concert Hall. We took the photo on the terrace level to showcase the Concert Hall’s renowned pipe organ, a striking sculptural centerpiece designed by the late Frank Gehry.
As I serve my final year on the Board, capturing our portrait in this space carries added meaning—especially following Gehry’s recent passing and in recognition of his enduring impact on the cultural landscape of Los Angeles County. Standing before the organ, crafted to evoke movement, imagination, and collective harmony, I’m reminded that progress happens when we work together.
I selected this backdrop to reflect our Board’s shared commitment to unity, creativity, and service to the residents of Los Angeles County. As we look ahead, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and energized for the work that remains as I serve my final year on the Board.
In community, Hilda L. Solis Chair, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Supervisor, First District
In these unprecedented times, the County must continue exploring every opportunity to support our most vulnerable residents. That's why I was proud to introduce a motion this week to ensure we provide a pathway for families and workers to receive their hard-earned last paycheck, regardless of immigration status. The motion responds to a growing need among families whose loved ones have been detained or deported during ongoing immigration raids and who face significant barriers when attempting to collect wages already earned by their family member.

Many thanks to the LA Phil for a hosting a powerful Neighborhood Concert in Hacienda Heights. The performance filled our community with energy and warmth, demonstrating the impact of world-class music when it’s brought directly into our neighborhoods. Seeing families, young people, and longtime residents come together reminded me why access to the arts matters so deeply. I am grateful to our partners who helped make the evening possible and to everyone who joined us. As we move into the holiday season, I carry with me a renewed sense of unity, resilience, and hope.
Team Solis was delighted to participate in the Holiday in the Park festivities at Bassett Park. Families of all ages came together to enjoy carnival games, a lively DJ, delicious food tastings, toy raffles, festive crafts, and inspiring live performances by Bassett seniors. Celebrations like these not only lift our spirits but also strengthen the bonds of our community, showcasing the vibrant neighborhoods we build when we come together in joy and camaraderie.
This week, Belvedere Park transformed into a winter wonderland, as families gathered to enjoy snow, crafts, treats, carnival games, toys, and the opportunity to create cherished memories with loved ones. I was thrilled to have Team Solis join in, connect with so many of our families, and witness firsthand the spirit of community care and the strength of the partnerships that make our neighborhood so special.
Join us this weekend, December 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Camino City Terrace, Los Angeles County’s first-ever car-free, open streets event in the City Terrace neighborhood of unincorporated East Los Angeles. Over 1.6 miles of streets will be closed to cars, creating a safe, family-friendly space to walk, bike, skate, and roll while enjoying local murals, food, small businesses, and incredible neighborhood talent.
This celebration highlights the culture, creativity, and deep community pride that define City Terrace. Presented by Metro with support from my office and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, the event is made possible through a grant-funded partnership we are proud to lead.
Streets will close at 7 a.m. each day and reopen after 3 p.m., no later than 7 p.m. Residents are asked to move vehicles in advance to avoid ticketing, with free parking available at several nearby schools and additional spaces at City Terrace Park. We encourage attendees to come by foot, bike, or skate, and e-bike riders should turn off motors while on the route.
Experience the fun, enjoy food, photo booths, and activities, and connect with neighbors while supporting local parks and small businesses. I’m proud to have helped bring this CicLAvia-style celebration to life for our community.

Illegal dog breeding, often referred to as “backyard breeding,” poses serious threats to animal welfare in Los Angeles County. These unregulated operations frequently produce sick, genetically compromised, or underage puppies, which are sold to unsuspecting buyers and contribute significantly to the number of animals entering local shelters.
If you suspect illegal dog breeding, you can help protect animals by reporting it to the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control at stopillegalbreeding@animalcare.lacounty.gov or by calling (661) 261-0111.
