Food Help During the Government Shutdown
With the federal government shutdown affecting CalFresh benefits, many families across LA County are worried about putting food on the table. You're not alone - and there are resources available to help.
DCBA has compiled helpful resources and updates to give you options for finding the support you need during this challenging time.
If you or someone you know could use a little extra help, these resources are a good place to start.
Important Update for CalFresh Recipients
If you received a notice from the State of California saying that you would not be getting your CalFresh benefits in November, that does not mean you're disqualified or no longer eligible. You will still receive your benefits for the month of November once the government shutdown is over.
📺 Watch this quick video to learn more about CalFresh and how to maintain your eligibility.
🌐 Available in multiple languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Filipino, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Farsi, Armenian, and Khmer.
If you rely on CalFresh, we encourage you to visit your local food pantry and connect with mutual aid organizations for support while your benefits are suspended. LA County supports a network of 940 food pantries coordinated by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Food is available now, and more supplies are coming beginning this month.
