County of Los Angeles Proclaims 2025 Digital Inclusion Week, Announcing Countywide Digital Equity Roadmap Initiative, and Hosts the Digital Advancement & Opportunity Regional Summit
WHAT: The County of Los Angeles Internal Services Department (ISD) invites members of the media to join the Digital Advancement and Opportunity Regional Summit.
The County of Los Angeles officially recognizes National Digital Inclusion Week, Monday, October 6, through Friday, October 10, 2025, with a Board of Supervisors motion. National Digital Inclusion Week is an annual week of awareness, celebration, and recognition where digital inclusion leaders and practitioners across the nation showcase their digital equity activities. This action serves as the kickoff for a new countywide initiative: the co-creation of the first-ever County Digital Equity Roadmap. The Roadmap is a three-year action plan to address the digital divide countywide.
The Digital Advancement and Opportunity Regional Summit is a celebratory event in collaboration with California State University, Dominguez Hills on Thursday, October 9. The Summit will convene cross-sector leaders and stakeholders across the region to discuss digital inclusion priorities, showcasing local community action and workforce development strategies, and promote long-term collaboration, partnerships, and sustainability in support of the Digital Equity Roadmap planning process.

WHY: The digital divide remains a significant barrier to opportunity in Los Angeles County, having been exacerbated by public emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which necessitate reliable online access for safety, health, and economic recovery. Though County efforts have successfully cut the percentage of households without internet in half (from 11.7% to 5.8%), the sudden termination of Federal Digital Equity Act (DEA) funding requires a new, sustainable path forward. The Digital Equity Roadmap will provide the long-term strategic plan and funding strategy necessary to drive regional coordination and achieve full digital equity for all residents.
