Community Care Series

Wednesdays, October 1 - 22, 2025
10AM - 12PM (PDT)
(Via Zoom)

Our Grants and Professional Development Division is thrilled to offer this professional development training opportunity from SHIFT, now with even greater flexibility to meet you in this moment.

This Fall, SHIFT invites you to pause, reflect, and reimagine. Over the past year, Los Angeles has faced multiple compounding crises, and leaders like you have shown up with resilience and care for your communities. This 4-part virtual workshop series is designed to create space to engage in critical strategy and visioning. Together, we’ll discuss systems analysis, trauma-informed practices, resource mapping, and engage with SHIFT’s Community Care framework as a tool to strengthen our work.

Participants will:
  • Build tools to deepen social-emotional intelligence
  • Build tools for trauma-informed practices and modalities
  • Sharpen a systems analysis process to build courage, strategies for resistance, and reimagining
  • Ideate practices, languages, and visions of community care for the future
Later in the year, SHIFT will host independent office hours to support your implementation of these tools in your respective work and spaces.

It is recommended that participants plan to attend all four virtual trainings, as each module builds upon the previous session. However, we are offering the opportunity to attend one or more of the virtual trainings, if that is a better fit for you at this time.

October 15, 2025
9AM - 11AM (PDT)
In-Person

In today’s data-driven world, it’s crucial for nonprofits to harness the power of AI to deepen their impact and communicate results more effectively. AI can significantly streamline data analysis and storytelling, turning complex datasets into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with funders, stakeholders, and communities. When used strategically, AI enhances program evaluation by identifying patterns, measuring outcomes, and generating actionable insights, ultimately helping organizations improve their services. It also plays a vital role in creating timely, accurate stakeholder reports, reducing manual work and increasing efficiency. However, as powerful as AI is, it must be used responsibly—understanding best practices for ethical AI use in data management is essential to uphold transparency and protect sensitive information. Hands-on experience with AI-powered analysis tools empowers nonprofit teams to confidently apply these technologies, making informed, mission-aligned decisions grounded in real data.
