District Attorney Hochman Announces Charges Tied to Immigration Protests
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced that 30 people have been charged with a variety of criminal offenses such as assaulting police officers, using a destructive device to cause injury, and looting during the immigration protests in Downtown Los Angeles over the past two weeks.
“While we will always defend the right to peacefully protest, we will not disregard criminal behavior that puts the lives of officers and others at risk or compromises public safety,” District Attorney Hochman said. “There is a clear and distinct line between lawful expression and unlawful conduct. Our job as prosecutors is to ensure those who engage in violence and destruction are held accountable for their actions.”

LADA Charges Man With Murdering Baldwin Park Police Officer Samuel Riveros and 43-Year-Old Man
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced that a 22-year-old man was charged with murdering Baldwin Park Police Officer Samuel Riveros, who had responded to a call of a man who had been fatally shot in a Baldwin Park neighborhood.
“Officer Riveros left a lasting impact and loved nothing more than putting on the uniform and protecting the community he served,” District Attorney Hochman said. “We should never underestimate the dangers that officers face when they report for work, showing up day after day in service of something larger than themselves.”

 Honoring Juneteenth
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the last of the enslaved people in the United States were finally freed in Galveston, Texas. We celebrate the true emancipation of Black Americans as a lasting symbol of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. At the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, we remain committed to equity, accountability, and justice for all — honoring the legacy of those whose freedom was long overdue and the people who fought for it.
