 Disaster Unemployment Assistance Deadline Extended
The deadline to apply for federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance due to the recent wildfires has been extended to June 10, 2025.
All required documentation must be submitted within 90 days from the date listed on the mailed notice advising a support document is needed. Required documentation includes the most recent federal income tax form, check stubs, or other documentation to support that the applicant was working or self-employed when the disaster occurred. Documentation for those who are self-employed can be obtained from banks, government entities, or affidavits from individuals having knowledge of their business.
Workers who have already applied for Disaster Unemployment Assistance but have not yet submitted their documentation will now have 90 days to submit their documentation instead of the 21 days initially provided. For more information click here.
Less Than Two Weeks Left to Opt-In to Debris Removal Program
If you have not yet submitted your Right of Entry form, please submit the form here to take advantage of this debris removal program by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—at no out-of-pocket cost to you. Property owners must decide to opt-in or opt-out of the government-sponsored program by the deadline on March 31, 2025.
The form is available in Spanish, Russian, Armenian, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. Click here to hear from an Altadena family after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed the debris removal process on their property.

Opting-Out: Property owners who choose to hire private contractors for fire debris removal can receive an Eaton and Palisades Fire Debris Removal permit via the County’s EPIC-LA system. This permit allows home and business owners—and their authorized private contractors—to manage their own debris removal efforts while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards.
