Back-to-Back Storms to Arrive, Including Flood Watch Wednesday
Two cold, rainy storms are expected this week, the first likely starting tonight into Tuesday with possible rain across LA County. In total, LA County areas are expected to get at least an inch of rain with up to four inches in the foothills and mountains. Thunderstorms are also possible.
The second, stronger storm is forecast to begin Wednesday, with moderate to heavy rains predicted and a flood watch in effect from Wednesday 6 p.m. to Thursday 6 p.m. Minor flooding and debris flows are possible near burn scars.

Public Works continues to monitor and assess all Los Angeles County Flood Control District facilities to ensure they are ready and all protective measures that safeguarded communities during the last series of storms remain in place. That includes thousands of feet of k-rails deployed in Palisades and Eaton Burn Areas.
LA County's Mudflow Advice Hotline is available at 800-933-0930 for questions about debris flows.
Regional Planning Offers Resources for Rebuilding
LA County’s Disaster Recovery Ordinance allows for temporary housing and accessory structures on properties that contained a legally established single-family residence, accessory dwelling unit, caretaker’s residence, or farmworker dwelling unit. The Ordinance also allows for like-for-like replacements to aid repairing or rebuilding buildings and structures damaged or destroyed by a disaster.
To begin the rebuild or temporary housing process, visit the LA County Regional Planning website. You can also make an appointment for service at an LA County One-Stop Permit Center. Learn more about Regional Planning's services by watching their new Rebuilding Resources video.

FEMA Programs Offer Added Assistance for People with Disabilities
Recent updates from FEMA and the State of California provide disaster support by increasing accessibility and eligibility for affected people, families and communities.
These changes, across FEMA's suite of services, can help people with disabilities. Notably:
- Displacement Assistance funding can help pay for accessible accommodations
- Funding can be used to make rebuilt homes more accessible than before without counting against the maximum federal assistance amount
- Verification requirements are lowered for people seeking temporary housing options, including those with disabilities.
