Eaton Fire Survivors: Report Fraudulent Tow Company Activity
Eaton Fire survivors are being urged to report any suspicious activity involving fraudulent tow companies. Between January 7 and 10, 2025, deceptive operators falsely claimed to be contracted by Altadena officials, towing vehicles without notifying owners of their storage locations. These companies later demanded excessive fees to release the vehicles, some of which were stored in Riverside or San Bernardino Counties.
If you were asked to send a photo of your driver’s license or had trouble locating your vehicle, you may have fallen victim to this scam. The Inland Empire Auto Insurance Fraud Task Force is actively seeking victims of this scheme and encourages anyone affected to report their experience. The task force is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Anyone who suspects they were a victim should contact Sergeant Regina Garay at 909-919-2242 for assistance.
