Advancing Mental Health and Wellness in the Black Community
LADA’s African American Advisory Board (AAAB) hosted an event focused on mental health and wellness in the Black community. Our panelists included L.A. County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Judge Songhai Armstead (ret.), Andrea Welsing, Derek Steele, and moderator Dr. Ramona Merchan, AAAB Chair. The event highlighted efforts to advance racial justice and equity, and also included resource tables for community members.

We call attention to our lawmakers on the urgent need for gun violence prevention to keep our communities safe.

Defending Victims of Crime
In an op-ed, D.A. George Gascón discussed a massive federal budget cut that would take away $2.25 million in funding to LADA’s Bureau of Victim Services. The Bureau of Victim Services provides assistance and resources to more than 50,000 Angelenos affected by crime.
