Since March 2024, the TAP Team has issued a total of 20 Notices to Proceed (NTPs) for a variety of projects, including land inventories, community outreach and engagement, conceptual designs, environmental tests, and among others. The following is a grant using TAP funding to develop a new park in the City of La Puente.
TAP Project Highlight
The City of La Puente is increasing their park footprint with the planning and design of a new dog park. The proposed location, currently a vacant parcel, is situated on the southwest corner between Old Valley Blvd and Valley Blvd, just north of the train tracks. Once completed, this dog park will be a valuable community asset that caters to both dogs and park users. The park will feature designated areas for large and small dogs to exercise, socialize, and enjoy outdoor activities. La Puente utilized $27,473 of its allocated TAP funds for site surveys and the creation of a conceptual landscape plan. La Puente plans on utilizing additional Measure A Annual Allocation funds towards the implementation of this dog park.

Exploring the beauty of La Cañada Flintridge (LCF) just got easier with the opening of the Sister Cities Friendship Path. Located at the Descanso Trail to Cherry Canyon, this new 1,600-foot-long trail offers a more accessible route for outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels.
The beginning of the Descanso Trail has advanced terrain with steep slopes and it posed a challenge for many hikers, joggers, and bikers. Recognizing the need for a more inclusive option, the City of LCF utilized $400,000 from their Measure A Annual Allocation funding to construct an alternate route. Designed to have a gentler slope than its counterpart, the Sister Cities Friendship Path provides increased accessibility while preserving the natural beauty of the area. The name honors LCF's sister city, Villanueva de La Cañada in Spain, who plans to reciprocate the gesture with a trail of their own dedicated to LCF.

Construction for this route started in November 2023 and the trail officially opened on Earth Day, April 22, 2024! Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll, a brisk jog, or a scenic bike ride, the new Sister Cities Friendship path offers residents and visitors alike the opportunity to connect, explore, and enjoy the picturesque landscapes of LCF. See you on the path! |
