During National Social Work Month, DPSS is proud to highlight the amazing work of the department’s In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Social Workers. The Los Angeles County Youth Commission is encouraging the next generation of leaders to come out and share their ideas on how the commission can support and develop effective policies, practices, and services important to them. This listening session will take place on Saturday, March 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Hall 44851 Cedar Ave. in Lancaster. Los Angeles County is home to one of the largest Persian communities outside of Iran. The Persian New Year started on Tuesday, March 19, and will run until Monday, April 1. Also known as Nowruz (“new day” in Farsi), this holiday is one of the world’s largest spring equinox celebrations. The Asian Pacific Counseling & Treatment Centers invites residents ages 18 and older to attend the Heroes for Change: Community Health & Safety event on Saturday, April 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in West Covina.
