JANUARY IS NATIONAL HUMAN TRAFFICKING PREVENTION MONTH

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, bringing attention to the largely hidden crime where one person exploits another for labor, services, or commercial sex, using force, fraud, or coercion.  Any commercial sex act including a person under the age of 18 is also considered human trafficking. DPSS has designated its district offices to serve as temporary safe spaces for youth facing the threat of human trafficking. If you suspect a child is being victimized, call 911 or the L.A. County Child Protection Hotline at 1-800-540-4000.
