Hahn Reappoints Torrance Resident to LA County Youth Climate Commission

Gloyer

Los Angeles, CA -- Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn reappointed Torrance resident and UC Berkeley student Rebecca Gloyer to the Los Angeles County Youth Climate Commission. Gloyer was Hahn's appointment to the charter Commission when it was convened late last year.

"I’m beyond ecstatic to be a contributor to progress in my community! Thank you Supervisor Hahn for this opportunity, and I look forward to working the LA County Youth Climate Commission. I look forward to giving back to my community and to ensuring future generations get to enjoy the same beautiful Earth that we get to," said Gloyer after her appointment last year.

Gloyer graduated from El Camino College earlier this year with honors, receiving associate degrees in Mathematics, Business Administrations, Economics, General Studies - Social & Behavioral Sciences, Liberal Studies. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Data Science at the University of California, Berkeley.

"Young people are leading the charge to take action on our climate crisis. Rebecca embodies that mix of passion and knowledge that we need now more than ever,” said Hahn. "I'm proud to send her to the Youth Climate Commission again to continue doing this critical work."

The Youth Climate Commision held its first public meeting in June of this year. Its objective is to empower youth and young adults to use their voices and agency to combat climate change in the nation’s most populous County. The Commission is the first of its kind in the nation.
