Dear Neighbor,
We often hear concerns from residents in unincorporated communities across our district on the lack of parking enforcement and how it prevents street cleanings, makes it difficult for customers to access small businesses in their neighborhood, and makes our streets unsafe by blocking the public right-of-way. Constituents have reported delayed response times ranging from a few days to over a week or no response at all.
To help solve this issue, I have put forth a motion (Agenda Item 10) - to be voted on this Tuesday, Oct 17 - that would transfer parking enforcement from the Sheriff's Department to the Department of Public Works Transportation Services Division; this is aligned with how many other government entities in the region implement parking enforcement and will help support the bandwidth needed to reach the over 120 unincorporated communities that count on the County to deliver this critical service that impacts the quality of life for our residents.
If this issue impacts you, we want to hear from you. Please join us this Tuesday, Oct 17, at 9:30 a.m. to share your opinion on Agenda Item 10 in person, over the phone, or with a written comment.
📍 In-person: 500 West Temple St., Room 383, Los Angeles, 90012
📞Via Phone: Call 1 (877) 226-8163 and use participant code 133650
If you would like to submit a written public comment online on this agenda item (#10), you can do so between now and Tuesday; visit: https://publiccomment.bos.lacounty.gov/
I appreciate the residents and County teams working with my office to address this, and I look forward to updating you on our progress. Thank you.
Sincerely, Holly J. Mitchell Supervisor, Second District

Updates on our Latest RJLE Book Club Community Discussion
My office hosted our Second District Racial Justice Learning Exchange (RJLE) Book Club discussion on Solito, a memoir following Javier Zamora's solo journey at the young age of nine from El Salvador to America. Participants online and in-person joined us at the Florence Library where they engaged in meaningful conversations on immigration and their own family stories. It is through tough conversations like these that we are able to confront our own biases and learn from each other. To participate in an upcoming RJLE Book Club Community Discussion, click here for more information.
