Last month, the Los Angeles County's Homeless Initiative launched the Pathway Home program to help our unhoused community connect to supportive services and permanent housing. One of the first communities where the program initiated was in the 2nd District's West Rancho Dominguez community, which has some of the highest number of RV encampments in the County. With the support of County Departments, 58 people were placed into interim housing, including families with children, and removed 30 dilapidated RV's. Learn more about Pathway Home here. Our work is not done. I am committed to ensuring we expand this program to every part of the 2nd District in need of homelessness outreach and services and throughout Los Angeles County.

Board Moves to Enhance LA County Services for Residents in Unincorporated Areas
During Tuesday's Board meeting, the Board approved my motion to enhance access to County departments, programs, and services for our unincorporated communities through the creation of a comprehensive website, printed materials and outreach campaign. This initiative aims to simplify access to vital resources that our residents rely on the County to provide, such as zoning enforcement, sanitation, and public safety. All our residents benefit from us making navigating our complex County system easier. Read the full press release here.
Board Tackles Illegal Street Racing and Takeovers in Unincorporated Communities
The Board approved my motion to address illegal street takeovers and racing in our unincorporated communities, recognizing the deadly consequences for residents like Raymond Olivares, who was fatally struck during a street takeover event. A comprehensive plan that avoids causing additional trauma and incorporates tools such as speed ticketing, spectator fines, and infrastructure improvements while seeking input from the community will be developed with input from residents and relevant County and government departments through a Community Street Takeover Symposium by February 2024. Working Group Session with East Gardena Community
Continuing our engagement with community members, this week we hosted a Working Group Session with community leaders from East Gardena alongside County departments to discuss key issues, including RV encampments, illegal dumping, and environmental problems linked to the increase of trucks in the neighborhood. My office is working to continue and extend these Working Groups Sessions to all our unincorporated communities to better address constituent needs.
