THE RESILIENCEY PROJECT PRESENTED SHERIFF VILLANUEVA WITH THE "SHERIFF OF THE YEAR" AWARD

The Resiliency Project was founded by Nick Wilson, who was a police officer for 13 years before medically retiring. Nick found himself with a Post Traumatic Stress Injury diagnosis which led to self medication to sleep, a DUI and rehabilitation. The mission of this project is to provide the nation's first responders with peer support, advocacy and psychological services in order to end the silent suffering. Sheriff Villanueva was awarded “Sheriff of the Year Award,” a national level award. The only other Sheriff recognized with this award was Sheriff Chad Bianco from Riverside Sheriff’s Department.

DEPUTIES ATTEND AUTISM IDENTIFICATION TRAINING
April 21, 2022
The City of Industry partnered with Autism Interaction Solutions to put together a training course focused on autism identification, safety and communication tactics. The training provided deputies with hands-on scenarios regarding mental health and recommended response methods when encountering mental health related issues in the field. During this training, deputies learned how to promote and maintain positive interactions with the special needs community.

SHERIFF VILLANUEVA ANNOUNCED MTA CONTRACT BID: ALL OR NOTHING

LASD has provided law enforcement services for Metro since 1997. The LASD has always had full-time personnel strictly assigned and trained for public transit policing. Currently, LASD deploys 300 deputies assigned to Transit Services Bureau. In a press conference, Sheriff Villanueva expressed how the MTA has turned into an unsafe environment, as several critical incidents have occurred this past year alone.

2022 INTERFAITH RAMADAN CELEBRATION

The hardworking volunteers of the Community Advisory Council transformed the STARS Center gymnasium for a celebratory event. Sheriff Villanueva, LA County Deputy DA John Hatami, and representatives from the consulates of Qatar and Pakistan were among those in attendance.

PASTORS RECEIVE RECOGNITION FOR THEIR HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS
April 16, 2022
Sheriff Villanueva recognized Pastor Marvin Rodriguez from “City of Refuge” and Pastor Eric Tietze from “Heart of Compassion Ministry” for their dedication to assist the community and improve their quality of life. Throughout the course of the pandemic, they have donated thousands of boxes of food for community members in need.
