A Letter from Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis
Dear Friends,
Navigating through the pandemic these past two years has been a long, difficult, and stressful journey -- and we all want it to end. We’re thankfully past the worst of our winter surge, but we still have high transmission levels across the First District and the County. To that end, we need to drive our numbers down a little further to make sure our most vulnerable and our essential workers aren’t put at unnecessary risk.
The plan is to align with the State's regulations as soon as possible, but we are not there just yet. Once LA County COVID-19 daily hospitalizations drop below 2,500 for 7 consecutive days, masks will not be required in outdoor Mega Events or in outdoor spaces at childcare facilities and schools. I am hopeful that we will meet that metric as soon as this Wednesday. The masking requirements at indoor settings will be lift when the County reports for two consecutive weeks moderate transmission or below, fewer than 50 new cases per 100,000 persons or roughly fewer than 730 new cases per day in the County.
If the new daily cases continue to decline at the current rate, we will be able to relax the masking requirements in the upcoming weeks. I am looking forward to that day but in the mean time, we must all continue to adhere to the LA County Department of Public Health's COVID-19 safety guidelines of getting vaccinated and boosted, getting tested and masking in outdoor crowded spaces and indoor settings.
LA County resources for testing and vaccines are still available at no cost to all residents, regardless of their immigration and health insurance status. To find a vaccination site near you, make an appointment, and get more information about vaccines, visit: www.VaccinateLACounty.com (English) or www.VacunateLosAngeles.com (Spanish). Find all legitimate testing sites by visiting covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/.
Sincerely,
Hilda L. Solis
Supervisor, First District
I'm so proud of launching a new large-scale COVID-19 testing site at the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area, in partnership with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This new testing site is part of President Biden's efforts to establish more community testing nationwide through the federal government’s Increasing Community Access to Testing (ICATT) program.
The launch of this site at the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area will bring testing resources directly to entire San Gabriel Valley, which has experienced a high volume of cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Many residents from this region are essential workers who work in the nearby cities of Industry and Irwindale at manufacturing and industrial companies.
The site will be open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a minimum of three weeks, with the potential to extend for additional three-week periods. With a daily capacity of 1,000 tests, appointments are encouraged, but not required.

Here are some tips to reduce your risk of getting COVID-19 while enjoying a Super Bowl watch party with family and friends:
- Gather outdoors if possible, especially when masks are off for eating and drinking. If you can do it safely, move the TV outdoors or plan to have at least the food and drinks outside.
- Keep your gathering small.
- Keep distance while eating, unless everyone is up to date on their vaccines. This is especially important if eating and drinking indoors.
- Stay away if you're sick or have COVID-19 symptoms.
The Super Bowl is almost here! And while it's an exciting time, I would like to remind you that fireworks are prohibited throughout unincorporated areas of LA County.
Each year thousands of people, many of them children, are burned, blinded, and even disfigured by fireworks. In addition, fireworks cause fires that cost us millions of dollars in property loss. So play it safe this Sunday.
Go Metro for the most seamless access to the Super Bowl Experience at the Convention Center in downtown LA and at the big game in Inglewood!
Fans who take Metro to attend the Super Bowl Experience will receive 50 percent off their general admission ticket when purchased at the box office (excluding the SBXtra fast pass). Fans must show their TAP card at the Super Bowl Experience presented by Lowe’s box office to receive the "walk up only" discount at the time of purchase. Full details are available at www.superbowl.com, through the NFL OnePass app or on www.metro.net/gameday.
For game day, parking onsite at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, February 13 will be extremely limited. To that end, Metro will be providing free bus shuttle service as part of a broader shuttle service plan. Additionally, there will be park and ride shuttle options, staffed taxi and rideshare lots available.
As part of an extensive shuttle system for game day, Metro will be running free bus shuttle service between the C Line (Green) Hawthorne/Lennox Station and the stadium. Metro shuttle buses will run every five to eight minutes from Hawthorne/Lennox Station beginning at 10:45 a.m. to the Super Bowl, with player introductions and national anthem at 3 p.m. Buses will operate frequently for 90 minutes after the game ends. Shuttle buses are free. However, regular transit fares will apply on all other Metro buses and trains.
To plan your trip to the game, Metro suggests that riders download Transit app, Metro’s official app.
