BLACK HISTORY MONTH
February is Black History Month, celebrating the contributions that African Americans have made to the United States. In 1976, President Gerald Ford called for the nation to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans.” Since then, every U.S. president has designated February as a time for reflection and celebration. This year’s national theme is “Black Health and Wellness.” A list of month-long virtual events can be found online at LACAAEA Events | Eventbrite.
CELEBRATE THE YEAR OF THE TIGER!
The Lunar New Year marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendars traditional to many east Asian countries. Lunar New Year 2022 is “The Year of The Tiger.” In the Chinese culture, the tiger represents strength and bravery. For a list of events in L.A. County, visit Lunar New Year events "LA County" (google.com).
